Shoes are not the only thing
found in shoe boxes.
On July 18, 2008, while working on
Interstate 10 in Gadsden County, Troop H’s
Contraband Interdiction Team of Troopers Dusty Arnold and
Joel Clark and
K-9 Indo conducted a traffic stop on a driver for an illegal
window tint violation. While speaking with the driver, they
observed several indicators of criminal activity and evidence of
contraband inside the vehicle. Subsequently, the driver was
arrested for being a habitual traffic offender. During the
vehicle inventory, a black shoe box was found that contained a
large amount of cash, totaling $14,600, and 20 grams of
marijuana. Since the currency was tied to drug affiliation, it
was seized under Florida Statute.

Police dogs
poisoned
The
police dog unit in the Northern Cape capital has suffered a
devastating blow with the agonised death by poisoning of all
three of its narcotic "sniffer" dogs. It is believed they died
after eating viennas laced with poison. Police noticed something
was wrong with the dogs around midnight on Sunday when they were
changing shifts. One of the dogs, Fridge, was found dead in his
kennel. Terry and Buddy were taken to the Belgravia veterinary
clinic, where they also died. Nobody has been arrested. The
dogs' carcasses are in Pretoria where post mortems will
determine the cause of death. "All three were border collies and
were trained as narcotic dogs and were used for sniffing out
drugs and other substances," police spokesperson Mashay
Gamieldien said.
