K9 Zev – Renton, Washington

Died 7/4/20
Handler – Officer Adam

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of K9 Zev. This past Saturday Officer Adam found his partner had passed away overnight due to unknown causes. We are awaiting the report from the vet. Officer Adam has been with the Renton Police Department since 1995, and was partnered with K9 Zev in 2015. Zev was a seven-year-old German Shepard who came to the Renton Police Department from Germany. Officer Adam and Zev completed their training with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office in May of 2015, and worked together serving the Renton community as a State Accredited Generalist Master Handler K9 team. Zev had an amazing ability to track human scent with intense focus, locating numerous dangerous criminals during his career. Zev literally jumped, repeatedly, at the opportunity to do police work. While at work Zev made many appearances at community events, Boy Scouts events and Community Police Academy classes. Officer Adam and Zev were pals with mutual admiration for each other. On Zev’s days off he was part of the family spending time at home just being a dog and companion. Zev was an incredibly courageous Police K9 that served as a guardian to the City of Renton. The bond between Zev and Officer Adam was unparalleled and will never be forgotten. We will miss you Zev! We hope you enjoy this video we put together to honor Officer Adam and Zev’s partnership.
