Multnomah Co. Sheriff’s K9 Varro dies of complications from stroke
A Multnomah County Sheriff’s K9 who served for nearly a decade died over the weekend, officials announced Wednesday. K9 Varro was 14 years old. According to the sheriff’s office, Varro was at home when he died on Sunday morning of complications following a stroke.The trained sheriff’s dog joined the K9 unit in 2005 and was deployed nearly 1,000 times, officials said. He retired in 2014 and spent his remaining years with his former partner, Sergeant Weber, and his family. Varro received several accolades through his service, including medals for participating in local K9 competitions.
