Retired Carrboro police K-9 officer dies following cancer diagnosis
The Carrboro Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its own this week.Police announced Friday the death of former K-9 officer Turbo after recently being diagnosed with cancer.“It is with a heavy heart that we share with you the passing of K9 Turbo today,” the police department wrote in a social media post. “Please join us in honoring, celebrating and remembering K9 Turbo for the amazing dog, coworker, family and friend that he is.”Turbo was born in March 2013 and started his career with Carrboro police in 2014 under the tutelage of K-9 handler Walker. After three years, Turbo was assigned to Officer Kimrey before eventually retiring in May 2023.Carrboro police said Turbo had been living a “full, happy, and relaxing life” with Officer Kimrey since his retirement.
