K9 Torro – Waco, Texas

Police dog that survived kidney failure euthanized

Torro, a Waco Police Department service dog that survived acute kidney failure in 2011 and helped capture two suspects on his first day back on the job has been euthanized because of ongoing health problems. Torro worked for three more years after battling back from kidney failure with the help of a number of veterinarians and support from area residents who donated to pay the cost of the dog’s treatment. Since 2014 he had lived with his handler and had become part of the officer’s family, police said. “Torro you will be missed friend and we will see you on the other side.”
