PGPD Canine Section Regrets to Announce Passing of Retired K9 Slick

K9 Slick came to the Prince George’s County Police Department in 2013 after serving overseas with the United States Marine Corps as an Explosive Ordnance Detection Canine. During his time with the Police Department, Slick was handled by Cpl. S. Allen, Sgt. J. Walden and later taken on by Cpl. B. McKinniss in 2017. Being assigned to the Canine Section, K9 Slick was responsible for sniffing several different venues ensuring that not only high profile dignitaries were safe, but the citizens of Prince George’s County were as well. Additionally, K9 Slick served a major role with assisting on all game days hosted by the Washington Redskins ensuring that the fans, players and all that attended had a safe environment free from any harms or threats that may have been posed. K9 Slick received the retirement life he so truly deserved with the McKinniss Family late in 2018. There he was loved by the entire McKinniss Family and even taught Cpl. McKinniss’s newer younger partner a thing or two. K9 Slick was a true veteran, loyal partner and family member of the Prince George’s County, Canine Section who will truly be missed by all. K9 Slick was 12 years old at the time of his passing.
