Richmond Police Department Mourns the Loss of Retired K-9 Sara

In a sad turn of events, just days after the passing of retired K-9 Sarik, RPD mourns the loss of another retired police K-9, the beloved K-9 Sara.K-9 Sara served the community for ten years as a narcotics detection K-9 before retiring in 2021. Her service was beyond commendable and she was well respected by other law enforcement agencies and officers. Officer Robinson and K-9 Sara had received numerous awards throughout K-9 Sara’s years of service. One highlight was the 2019 Certificate of Appreciation they received from the United States Postal Inspection Office for their commendable work in seizing large amounts of narcotics and over $100,000 in cash that was being used in these crimes. Their efforts not only resulted in the arrest of several individuals but also kept postal employees safe by preventing exposure to dangerous narcotics. K-9 Sara loved to work, but she also loved her toys and playing with her family. Sara was more than just a dedicated partner, she was family to Officer Robinson and to RPD. She will be greatly missed. Thank you for your service, K-9 Sara. Loyal Partner. Fearless Protector. Loving Friend.
