K9 Robbie – Rhode Island Department of Corrections

Died 11/25/19
Handler – Corrections K9 Unit Commander Stephen Hauser

K9 Robbie Mourned

CPWDA is sad to inform everyone that K9 Robbie passed away unexpectedly on November 25 2019. Robbie was 13 years old and partnered with Rhode Island Department of Corrections K9 Unit Commander Stephen Hauser. Robbie had been with the Department for 10 years starting in February of 2007 and retiring in 2017. Robbie was one of the first police canines on the east coast to be trained to find cell phones which he became very good at. He was also a dual purpose K9 narcotic detection and patrol dog. Robbie made an impression at many training events with his high drive to search. Many handlers would compliment “that dogs a machine”. Robbie was a member of the RI Department Corrections Emergency Response Team C.E.R.T, Rhode Island Police Work Dog Association, Connecticut Police Work Dog Association, North American Police Work Dog Association and the United States Police Canine Association. Officer Hauser and K9 Robbie were Life Time Members of the CPWDA joining on 1/14/13. K9 Robbie will be missed greatly by all members of the CPWDA and the greater K9 community and Rhode Island Department of Corrections. CPWDA sends our thoughts and prayers to Officer Stephen Hauser, his family, Rhode Island Department of Corrections and friends during this difficult time. RIP Robbie and thank you for your service.
