K9 Rico MWD

Died – 7/24/16

Today we lost one of our own, Retired CWD Rico, MDD. Rico came to us from Afghanistan in late 2014, and was adopted by one of our supporters named Jim a few months after. He lived happily with Jim for 6 months and was loved every day. But in Feb 2016, Jim passed away, and Rico found himself back in our care waiting for another “someone” to call his own. Three months passed with Rico in our care, with few people interested in adopting him because he was a senior. Rico still had so much love to give, when an amazing man named Terry came along. Terry did not hesitate to bring Rico into his home because he knew Rico was his guy. Terry and Rico had only 2 months together when Rico passed away in his sleep this afternoon. Rico was one of the lucky ones, because he was loved and adored by 2 amazing men in his life. Godspeed CWD Rico! Thank you for saving so many countless lives over the years. You have forever touched so many people, and will forever be a hero.
