Franklin officers say goodbye to one of their three police dogs
Franklin police officers and others from throughout the region lined Panther Way on Monday to say goodbye to police dog Robbi.Robbi, one of the department’s three police dogs, died Monday at age 7. He had been recently diagnosed with throat cancer.”Robbi was doing well,” said Police Chief Thomas Lynch. “He was at the age where you start thinking about retirement, but he really was doing well. He was doing double duty and was working for us and the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council.”He was a special dog. Not all dogs are capable of working SWAT. Robbi was Gilboy’s fourth K-9 partner since joining the department from Mendon more than 20 years ago.Gilboy was not available for comment on Tuesday.
