K-9 Nyxx Mourned By Middletown Township Police

The Middletown Township Police Department has announced the death of its K-9 Nyxx. Police said Thursday that Nyxx served alongside Officer Kevin Eckenrode for many years. During Nyxx’s time with the police department, he had over 400 deployments which resulted in more than 100 surrenders.Nyxx also had six apprehensions and 15 successful tracks, police said. His two most notable tracks were the locating of a missing autistic child and the apprehension of a home invasion suspect. K-9 Nyxx assisted Middletown and numerous other locations in more than 60 explosive sweeps and successful article searches. Police said that K-9 Nyxx was a favorite among the community and participated in nearly 100 demonstrations and events across the county.” Losing any animal is devastating. But, only those in the K-9 handler community will intimately understand the grief that is felt when they lose their partner,” police said. “They spend more hours with their K-9 partner than they do their own human family. They put their lives and trust into their K-9 which forms a unique and beautiful bond. We ask that you keep K-9 Nyxx, Officer Eckenrode, and his family in your thoughts and prayers.””Our deepest sympathies to Middletown Township Police Department on the loss of K9 Nyxx,” the Trevose Fire Company said in a Facebook post. “Our thoughts are with his partner as well. Thank you Nyxx for your services to the community.”
