Sheriff’s Office K-9 dies from cancer-related issues
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office lost one of its K-9 officers due to cancer-related issues. K-9 Officer Neco was brought to the veterinarian for health issues on Sunday and was euthanized. Deputy Joe Weiss was Neco’s handler for seven years, at home and on the job. Neco’s favorite toy was a rope with a ball connected to it, according to KCSO. K-9 officer Neco was a German Shepherd trained for patrol and narcotics. Sheriff deputies and the public rely on K-9 officers for life-saving situations. After recently retiring a K-9 and the passing of Neco, KCSO is down to three K-9 officers.
