Delaware County Sheriff’s K9 dies 6 months after retirement
A former K9 deputy has died six months after retiring from the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office announced Lacey’s death Friday morning. The accomplished K9 retired in April at 9 years old due to hip problems and a heart murmur. According to the sheriff’s office, Lacey has several career accomplishments with her partner Deputy Scott Gaines, including being called upon by the FBI to help with cases throughout the country. In one case she helped locate a serial killer and in another, she found a missing child.
