‘Fabulous’ Lancashire police dog Harri dies after short retirement
A hard-working police dog who helped to remove drugs and guns from the streets of Lancashire has died. The Lancashire Police Dog Unit said Retired Police Dog (RPD) Harri passed away in the early hours of this morning (Sunday February 13). The Police Dog Unit posted: “Harri was a fabulous police dog who assisted Lancashire Police to remove drugs, guns and large quantities of illegal cash from the streets of Lancashire. “Stand down Harri, thank you for your service and sleep easy.” RPD Harri was the former partner of RPD Taz and most recently worked alongside PD Rhyker. RPD Harri’s handler said: “He was a fabulous dog to work with and will be sorely missed by myself and my family. He had a fabulous but short retirement with his new mum, big brother, sister and Felix the cat and for that I/we are very grateful to them.” Wellwishers posted tributes online to Harri tonight. Sylvia posted: “It’s so hard to lose a dog, or a colleague in this case. My sympathies to his handler.” Jane said: “RIP Harri you looked so much like our Axel. He once was on the other side of the law when he decided to leave home on bonfire night and ended up at Colne police station for the night. If you meet over the rainbow bridge tell him not to go out on bonfire night.” Michelle added: “So sad to read, what a beautiful and brave boy .. lovely photos of him from young to old. Run free over the rainbow bridge Harri, be proud and pain free.” Brenda posted: “R.I.P Harri such a sad loss to your police handler and police family. Sleeping peacefully.”
