Williams County Sheriff’s Office Lose Canine to Cancer
The Williams County Sheriff’s Office said K-9 Hammer, a 12-year-old Dutch shepherd, died of cancer Tuesday. He was handled by Deputy Mick Frisbie. Hammer was born May 18, 2003, and joined the sheriff’s office in August, 2004. He was trained in narcotics detection, patrol, and tracking. A spokesman said Hammer was to retire from service at the end of the year and was working the streets as recently as Monday. A memorial service is planned for 4:30 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Williams County Courthouse pavilion.
