K9 Goro – MWD

Died 2/4/16

MWD GORO N363, 05 May 2007 – 04 February 2016. GORO was assigned on active duty to the 902d Security Forces Squadron (SFS), Joint Base San Antonio, Texas. While at the 902 SFS, GORO deployed numerous times in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. In October 2013, GORO was deemed unfit for duty and was retired to the 902d Security Forces Manager, CMSgt Brian Martin. GORO lived a very happy life in retirement with his new family. He loved to exercise with his loving “mother” Cindy and went on many adventures with his “boy” Kolton. GORO loved to go for rides, play football with Kolton in the back yard and camping with his family. Even though GORO was retired, he maintained his high drive and watched over his new family to ensure they were safe at all times. Recently, GORO was diagnosed with in-operable cancer in his spinal cord. After consultations with his primary veterinarian and a neurology veterinarian specialist it was their recommendation to put GORO to rest. On 04 February 2016 at 8:55 pm in his home surrounded by his family, GORO crossed over peacefully. It was the hardest decision the family has ever made. GORO showed his family an unconditional love and a bond that will never be broken. Rest in Peace GORO. You served your country with honor and will be truly missed by your handlers, trainers, kennel masters and especially your family.
