Warminster Police Remember Canine Officer, Eddie
Police in Warminster Township are honoring a former canine officer who was laid to rest last week. Eddie, who turned 13 years old on Christmas Eve, was born in the Czech Republic and purchased by Warminster Police on Sept. 8, 2009. He completed patrol training with the Philadelphia Police K9 unit in January 2010 and completed explosive-detection training in June of that year. Eddie would go on to serve for the better part of a decade, retiring from duty in October 2018. During that time, he performed many searches and evidence discoveries and helped with explosives detection sweeps, including during the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia in 2016. On Wednesday, Feb. 17, Eddie’s longtime partner, Officer Gin, took him to his final vet appointment at BluePearl Pet Hospital (formerly CARES) in Langhorne. “K9 Eddie will always be remembered as a loyal and valiant member of the Warminster Township Police Department,” police said in a written statement.
