K9 Donna – Bexar County, Texas

Died 6/16/16
Handler – Deputy Constable Ramiro Guzman

A Bexar County deputy has said his final goodbye to his faithful K9 partner of nearly 5 years. Several deputies paid their respects to Donna this morning at the Mission Animal Hospital in the city’s south side before she was put to rest. Donna is 13-years-old and has been suffering from hip dysplasia, a common deformity with German Shepherds. Veterinarians said treatment is no longer working and it was best to end her suffering. Bexar County Precinct 4 deputy constable Ramiro Guzman and Donna worked for a federal task force. During her years of service, she helped capture drug-cartel members, seize millions of dollars in drug money, narcotics, and other assets. KENS 5 asked Guzman how he will cope with the loss. “I don’t think Donna will ever be replaced. Donna was a one of a kind and she will forever live in my heart,” said Guzman. Donna served in the United States Armed Forces before she came to Bexar County. She worked in the Middle East and Germany.
