Trenton Police Department heartbroken over death of former K-9 Officer Delo

Hearts are heavy in the Trenton Police Department as they share the news that former Police K-9 Officer Delo has died.Trenton Police Chief Mike Hawking said the police dog actually died Tuesday, but the public announcement was delayed to give his former handler, Detective Sgt. Frank Cavazos, and other officers a little personal time to deal with the loss.Delo served the city of Trenton from 2014 until 2021, spending some of those years with Homeland Security along with Cavazos. His lifetime statistics were 552 uses, 374 arrests, and seized over a million dollars in currency. Even with such impressive numbers, Hawkins said that doesn’t even count the immeasurable things Delo did, such as the public relations events he attended.“He was a great dog and he had an outstanding handler,” Hawkins said.
