Tampa police K-9 dies of natural causes week before retirement
A Tampa Police Department K-9 passed away from natural causes Tuesday night. K-9 Chesney started protecting the city of Tampa in Oct. 2010 and was set to retire next week. He was responsible for apprehending felony suspects and also served as an explosive detection dog, according to TPD. TPD said Chesney could often been seen with his partner Office Ryan Flannigan doing explosive searches at Tampa Stadium and Amalie Arena. “K-9 Chesney will be remembered as a hero. RIP sweet boy. EOW 12-4-18,” TPD said in a Facebook post.
