Handler – Officer Tina Mazzoccoli

K-9 Bobby passed away at home after a short battle with cancer. K-9 Bobby was 13 years old. K-9 Bobby was acquired by the South Windsor Police Department in 2008 under Chief Gary Tyler and together they attended with 136th Connecticut State Police Canine Training Troop as the department’s fourth canine team. K-9 Bobby was handled by Officer Tina Mazzoccoli #174 (now retired). K-9 Bobby learned and excelled at such tasks as tracking, evidence recovery, handler protection, and criminal apprehension. In 2010 both went back to the state police and certified in Narcotics Detection; one of his most notable finds was a small bag of cocaine tucked away in a bodega in Hartford. Each year in service, together they competed against 35-40 other teams across the state in the Connecticut Canine Olympics where he was awarded Top Obedience in 2010 and 2012 and Top Apprehension in 2011. What a good boy! K-9 Bobby also participated in dozens of meet-and-greets with various youth groups, elderly groups, and town events.
