K-9 Arec was the partner of Master Deputy Harold Howell. Here is MD Howell’s tribute to his friend and partner. “Today with a broken heart I am saddened to announce the untimely passing of retired LCSO full service K-9 AREC KD-4102. K9 Arec proudly served the citizens of Lake County from 2010-2018. K9 Arec held a USPCA narcotics certification, was a graduate of PSD K-9 street dog seminar, and was awarded K9 of the year in 2017. In his years of service K9 Arec seized $62,700 in illegal narcotics, 24 guns, $9,185 in cash and effected 211 arrests including surrenders and criminal apprehensions. Arec assisted every police Agency in Lake County, as well as FDLE, DEA, FDOC, FBI, ATF, U.S. Postal inspection, FWC, FL DOA, FHP, DOT, U.S. Marshalls, U.S. Forestry and the Bureau of prisons.
