K9 Colt – Manchester, New Hampshire

Died 8/13/20
1st Handler – Officer Chris Biron
2nd Handler – Officer Ryan Brandreth

It is with great sadness that the Manchester Police K-9 Unit announces the passing of K-9 Colt (retired). K-9 Colt began his Manchester Police career in 2009 with Officer Chris Biron until his promotion to sergeant in 2013. K-9 Colt was then re-assigned to Officer Ryan Brandreth and both were certified as a patrol/narcotics team. The team held a strong reputation for their successes on the street. The pair were consistently fierce competitors on the USPCA trial fields. In 2016, Ofc Brandreth and K-9 Colt responded to The 61 Market for an armed robbery in progress. After attempting to murder the clerk, the suspect fled from the store. Ofc Brandreth arrived on scene and deployed K-9 Colt who was able to chase down the suspect and apprehend him. Ofc Brandreth’s quick thinking and Colt’s skill prevented the suspects escape. The team was awarded the Manchester Police Meritorious Service Medal for their actions that day. K-9 Colt retired in 2017 and has spent his retirement years with Ofc Brandreth and his family. Ofc Brandreth and K-9 Colt could not have asked for better partners. K-9 Colt, you will be missed but your service to our community will never be forgotten. Our condolences to the Brandreth and Biron families and all that had the pleasure to work with him. Rest easy good boy!!
