The Village of Perry Police Department is sad to announce that today retired Police Canine Loreto at the age of 14 yrs old has passed and started his next journey in life by crossing over the Rainbow bridge. Loreto was sworn in as a Police Officer in November of 2007. Loreto and his partner Lieutenant Michael J Collins started their training in September of 2007. The team trained at Excell K9 under Master Trainer Paul Shaunessy and graduated in November of 2007. Loreto was involved in many community events throughout the Perry and surrounding communities. He was a fixture in the Perry Local School District School Buildings as a resource Officer and mascot and enjoyed camping with his family and friends at Perry Park and the James family campsite. Loreto retired in January of 2017 and became a family dog and enjoyed his retirement with his family. A special thank you Lt. Mike Collins, the Perry Community and Village of Perry and the Madison Veterinary Hospital, who donated their services with Loreto’s passing. Also, thanks to Barkley Pet Service for the cremation and their compassion and service through this sad time.
