RCSO announces death of retired K-9
A retired Randolph County Sheriff’s Office K-9 passed away Saturday. On Sunday, the sheriff’s office announced that Rocky died with his partner and family by his side. In a social media post honoring Rocky, the sheriff’s office shared that Rocky “served with distinction and had an excellent career for many years as a Randolph County Sheriff’s Office search K-9.” Rocky began his career in 2009 with the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office when he was donated by the NC Department of Correction. During his career, Rocky found many missing children, elderly persons and suspects. He held a national certification through the North American Police Work Dog Association (NAPWDA) for trailing/tracking. Rocky’s skills were well known in multiple counties and were used in Chatham, Moore and Montgomery counties. Rocky retired in 2015 and continued to live out his retirement with his partner, Sgt. J. Brown, and family.
