Reno police K-9 dog ‘Junior’ dies
A retired Reno police dog, Junior, died Friday at age 12. Junior specialized in explosive detection and was assigned to Officer Jason Morgan, according to a Reno Police Department announcement. The dog was retired in February after serving nearly nine years with the department. Junior was “a friendly and welcome sight around the station,” said Officer Travis Warren in the announcement. “He was also quite adept at finding the officer or civilian staff who had some treats!” The Reno Police Department has six total K-9 dogs on active duty. Four are patrol dogs and two work in explosive detection cases.
