Former Boise police K-9 dies in Washington
A former Boise police dog died in retirement Friday after a battle with cancer.Police K-9 Diesel, a dog the Boise Police Department deployed from 2011 to 2017, died in Washington with his owners, according to a Facebook post from the Boise Police Department. Diesel worked as a “dual purpose” K-9, meaning he was trained both to find drugs and to track and apprehend suspects. In addition to that, the dog also made many appearances at public events as outreach for the department. Police removed him from service in 2017 due to his medical condition, according to the post. After that, the post states, the Diesel’s caretakers moved to Washington, where he died Friday.
