Retired Central Texas K-9 dies, served for 10 years
Former K-9 Era, from the Harker Heights Police Department, passed away on April 29, according to police. Era was born on Feb. 29, 2004, and started working with the police department in 2006, before retiring in 2014. Era was a Belgian Malinois from Guadalajara and was a dual purpose police canine trained in patrol and narcotics. She was known for her agility and speed. Era assisted the Harker Heights Police Department SWAT team, the Bell Organized Crime Task Force and other agencies whenever she was needed as an on-call K-9. Era will be buried sometime in the near future in front of the Harker Heights Police Department alongside other K-9s who have passed away.
