Police K-9 instrumental in many arrests dies, police say
An area police department is mourning the loss of a K-9 officer this week, according to a news release. The Wisconsin Dells Police Department said retired K-9 Eddie served the department from 2010 to 2015. “During his service to the community Eddie was instrumental in many criminal arrests and apprehensions,” the department said in a news release. Eddie retired in 2015 after being diagnosed with dysplasia in both front elbows. Eddie was adopted by his handler, Officer DuWayne Cournoyer, and spent his retirement years as a faithful and loving companion, police said. Eddie was recently diagnosed with liver disease and passed away Tuesday with Cournoyer by his side. “He will be missed,” police said.
