State Police announce passing of retired K9 Officer Zigi
A retired Pennsylvania State Police K9 officer responsible for the seizure of more than $45 million worth of cash and drugs over his six-year career has died.K9 Officer Zigi retired from duty in 2019 after serving six years with State Police Troop H in Dauphin County, State Police said.During one notable traffic stop on Interstate 81 in 2017, Zigi recovered more than 11 pounds of MDMA, or ecstasy, from a Massachusetts vehicle, leading to the arrest of two suspects.The Belgian Malinois also assisted other state, local, and federal agencies over the course of his career, according to State Police.”We are forever grateful for his commitment to help protect the Commonwealth,” State Police said.
