Former Scott County Sheriff K9 laid to rest
A former K9 for the Scott County Sheriff’s Office was laid to rest Wednesday in the care of his handler. Spike started at the department in 2013 and worked as a narcotics and patrol canine until retiring in 2021. An honor procession from Eldrige to Bettendorf took place Wednesday, June 5. “K9 Spike made an invaluable mark on our community, assisting in finding thousands of pounds of illegal narcotics, assisting in numerous search warrants, and helping catch numerous criminals,” a radio broadcast sent across multiple Scott County departments said. “Spike will be deeply missed by many. Chase all the tennis balls and get all the bad guys, Spike, we’ll take the watch from here.”
