K9 Malo Passes
K9 Malo, a five-and-a-half-year-old Belgian Malinois, passed away on May 26, 2016 from natural causes. Malo served for the Macon County Sheriff’s Office for three-and-a-half years alongside Deputy Timothy Houk. Malo’s service record includes the seizure of 6,221 grams of cocaine, 594 grams of heroin, 1,789 ecstasy pills, 89,709 grams of marijuana, 1,329 grams of methamphetamine, 17 vehicles, 32 firearms, and $211,212 in cash. Additionally, Malo helped in 102 outside agency assists, 129 apprehensions, and two apprehensions with force. The Macon County Sheriff’s Office says it will conduct a tribute to Malo at a later date.
