Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Lays Retired K-9 ‘Ruger’ to Rest
On Friday, members of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit and various Law Enforcement Agencies from across the county said goodbye to retired K-9, “Ruger” who served our agency from 2011 until retiring in 2017.While Father Time caught up with K-9 “Ruger” it never stopped him from hitting a bite sleeve or from being able to play with his favorite toy.K-9 “Ruger” officially began his career with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office in 2011 where he served as a dual purpose patrol and narcotics K-9, until his retirement in 2017.Throughout his career he had numerous criminal apprehensions, narcotics discoveries, and also participated in countless demonstrations at schools and events. “Ruger” proudly served our agency and citizens for 6 years prior to his well deserved retirement from the job!! Once retired, “Ruger” lived a spoiled retired life at home with Corporal Lovell and his family and never truly retired as he was always Corporal Lovell’s ride or die.In his final patrol car ride K-9 “Ruger” was escorted by our K-9 Units and K-9 Handlers from our partner law enforcement agencies throughout the county to his final resting place in Titusville.A special thank you to our great friends at Animal Specialty and Emergency Hospital in Viera and Best Friend’s Cremation in Titusville for their kind and compassionate care of our furry hero, K-9 “Ruger!!”
