MPD mourning loss of K-9 Jango
The Midland Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its K-9 officers, according to an MPD Facebook post. According to the post, K-9 Jango had to be put down over the weekend after being diagnosed with cancer. K-9 Jango was actively working every day, with undetected cancer. “He spent the last hours of his life smiling, playing and catching bad guys in the bite suit,” according to the Facebook post. During his six years with the police department, K-9 Jango worked with MPD Sgt. Owens and Sgt. Welch to seize hundreds of thousands of dollars in narcotics seizures. K-9 Jango, who turned 9 last month, also caught nearly 30 suspects all of which were high risk or assaultive situations, according to the Facebook post.
