Moniteau County Sheriff loses K-9 Mizzou after illness
K-9 Mizzou died on February 15, 2022, after a battle with Invasive Thymoma. The Moniteau County Sheriff’s Department announced they lost a member of their team. K-9 Mizzou died on February 15, 2022, after a battle with Invasive Thymoma. Mizzou was born in Budapest, Hungary on March 5, 2012. She came to the United States to train as a police K-9. Mizzou first served in Morgan County with Tony Wheatley and came to Moniteau when Wheatley became sheriff in 2017. In a letter posted on the Moniteau County Sheriff’s Office page, Wheatley said Mizzou was part of the family and will be remembered for her dedication to duty. Mizzou was one of three K-9’s in the department. She served with K-9 Apollo and K-9 Anika.
